About the Fund
The fund, established consistent with Wisconsin’ Code of Judicial Conduct and Code of Ethics for Public Officials and Employees, will help raise the significant resources needed to present an appropriate defense to this extraordinary attack on Wisconsin’s judicial branch of government.
In conformance with Wisconsin Code of Judicial Conduct and the Code of Ethics for Public Officials and Employees, the fund has implemented strict rules prohibiting contributions from:
A registered lobbyist, a lobbying firm, or an agent of a foreign principal;
Individuals who are not citizens of the United States;
Any party to a matter pending before any Milwaukee County Circuit Court;
Any attorney for a party to a matter pending before any Milwaukee County Circuit Court;
A resident of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin;
An employee of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, or anyone working within the Milwaukee County Court Complex regardless of employer;
A licensed attorney who practices in Milwaukee County courts and has appeared or is likely to appear before Hannah Dugan in her capacity as a circuit court judge;
A member of the Wisconsin judiciary, whether active or as a reserve judge; or
The spouse or any dependent of any individual who is prohibited from contributing as stated above;
Any business or other entity controlled by an individual who is prohibited from contributing as stated above;
Members of the same law firm as any attorney who is prohibited from contributing as stated above.
The Trustee of the fund may, in their sole discretion, elect not to accept any contribution from any individual or entity that the Trustee deems inconsistent with the purpose of the fund, in violation of applicable law, or otherwise. Any contribution that the Trustee does not accept will be returned to the contributor.
Your privacy is important to the us. To ensure we are complying with the restrictions, we cannot accept anonymous contributions. We may need to contact you if we have questions about your contribution, so you will need to provide contact information. We will not give away or sell your personal information. However, state laws require public officials to disclose certain gifts in their Statement of Economic Interests (SEI) filed annually with the Wisconsin Ethics Commission. The SEI is a public record. The name, city, and state of every donor who contributes more than $50 per calendar year will be disclosed on the appropriate SEI.
Contributions are not refundable. Following the conclusion of this legal matter, the fund may have money left over. Any left over funds that are not used to pay defense expenses will be distributed by the Trustee to one or more qualified nonprofit organizations.
Contributions to the fund are not tax deductible.
